Our client wanted a bathroom that combined timeless elegance with contemporary design. Their vision centred around using marble in different tones to create a luxurious foundation, complemented by bold black fixtures for a modern and dramatic effect. The aim was to create a bathroom that was not only functional but also felt like a high-end, personalised space.
To bring this vision to life, we started with the foundation—grey marble tiling in varying shades for the walls and floor. The lighter-toned marble on the walls offered a sense of brightness and openness, while the darker grey marble flooring grounded the space, adding depth and contrast. The combination of these two shades of grey marble created a dynamic yet cohesive look, allowing the natural veining in the tiles to shine and providing an elegant backdrop for the rest of the design.
One of the defining features of this bathroom was the use of black fixtures throughout, which added a bold and modern edge to the classic elegance of the marble. The black shower tray and black shower fixtures, including the rainfall showerhead and taps, created a striking contrast against the grey marble tiles, making the shower area a true focal point.
To maintain the sleek, monochromatic aesthetic, we chose a black framed shower screen that enhanced the minimalist and contemporary feel. The frameless design added a sense of openness while the black accents tied it into the rest of the space.
The freestanding toilet with a black flush plate was another carefully chosen element, blending practicality with modern design. The toilet's clean lines and dark accents added to the overall aesthetic, ensuring that even the most functional piecescontributed to the luxurious feel of the space.
At the heart of the bathroom was a stunning dark brown oak vanity unit, chosen for its warmth and rich tone, which brought a natural element into the space. The deep wood finish provided a beautiful contrast to the sleek black and grey elements, softening the room while still maintaining the bold, contemporary aesthetic.
Sitting atop the vanity unit is a black bowl basin, paired with matching black taps that continued the bathroom's theme of modern elegance. The matte black finish of the basin and taps added a sophisticated touch, while the bowl’s rounded design provided a gentle contrast to the angular lines of the vanity.
Above the vanity, we installed a backlit mirror that served both a functional and decorative purpose. The mirror not only added a soft, ambient glow to the space, enhancing the room’s atmosphere, but also served to visually expand the area, reflecting light and making the bathroom feel more open. The backlit feature added a layer of luxury, transforming the vanity into a centrepiece of the room.
Each element was meticulously chosen to ensure that the bathroom had a cohesive look. From the black shower screen to the black taps and flush plate, the consistent use of black throughout tied everything together, creating a bold, striking aesthetic against the elegant marble backdrop.
A key challenge in this project was ensuring that the bold black fixtures didn’t make the space feel too dark or heavy. To balance this, we used lighter grey marble on the walls to brighten the space, while keeping the darker grey marble for the floor. This allowed us to create contrast without sacrificing the feeling of lightness and openness in the room.
Additionally, we needed to ensure that the dark brown oak vanity added warmth without clashing with the cool tones of the grey marble and black fixtures. By choosing a deep, rich tone for the vanity, we were able to achieve a perfect balance—adding warmth to the space without disrupting the overall aesthetic.
The result is a stunning bathroom that perfectly marries elegance with modernity. The grey marble tiling in different shades creates a sophisticated, luxurious base, while the black fixtures add a bold, contemporary touch. The dark brown oak vanity unit with its black bowl and taps introduces a natural warmth, ensuring the space feels inviting despite its bold design.
The client was overjoyed with the transformation, particularly how the bathroom feels like a high-end retreat while remaining practical and functional for everyday use. The combination of rich textures, striking contrasts, and modern fixtures has resulted in a bathroom that truly stands out, offering both luxury and style.
